What is Jolly English?

Jolly English is an Early Years programme that lays the foundation for phonics and literacy development. It is carefully structured to introduce young children to English through rich vocabulary, songs, stories and activities that nurture listening and speaking skills.

Specifically designed for children who are learning English as a Second Language, it supports the development of key language skills while gently introducing the 42 sounds of English in preparation for the next stage: Jolly Phonics.

At the Farm - Meet common animals and hear the sounds they make.
A Day Out - Talk about transport, places to go, and adventure language
At Home - Learn about family, furniture, and common home routines.
Animals - Discover wild and domestic animals with movement and sound games.

Level 2 Topics

Weather - Talk about seasons, clothes, and weather expressions.
At the Castle - Explore shapes, positions, and imaginative play with royalty.
Journeys - Build travel vocabulary and learn how we move from place to place.
A Camping Trip - Discover outdoor objects, nature, and teamwork language.
Fox at the Farm - Revisit farm themes through storytelling and simple prepositions.
Doctor, Doctor - Learn parts of the body, feelings, and simple health language.
Fun at the Fair - Introduce numbers, size words, and describing fun events.
A Party - Wrap up with celebration vocabulary, emotions, and social phrases.

Jolly English Teacher's Kit
The Jolly English Teacher's Kit (without puppets) is part of the Jolly English programme that combines English vocabulary and phonics to give children the best start. It has been carefully developed and sequenced for pre-school children who have little or no English. The course can be completed in a year and comes in two levels with each providing 44 lessons.
