Stella and Patrick Uzu are passionate educators, literacy advocates, and experienced project managers committed to transforming early childhood education in Nigeria through the power of Jolly Phonics. With complementary strengths and a shared vision, they have become key figures in promoting effective literacy instruction in public and private schools.

Stella Uzu holds a BA (Hon) in English Language and Literature, a PGD in Education, and an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Special Educational Needs (SEN). Her expertise spans EYFS, Child Psychology, and inclusive learning, with a strong interest in supporting dyslexic and struggling learners. Her journey into Jolly Phonics began through her children’s early learning experiences, which inspired deep research into its impact on early- grade and special needs pupils.

Patrick Uzu brings extensive experience in human resource management, educational project design, teacher training, and mentoring, and has played a central role in scaling up the Jolly Phonics initiative across multiple regions in Nigeria. Together, Stella and Patrick lead a dynamic team of educators, mentor peer trainers, and support hundreds of teachers in implementing evidence-based literacy practices. On the international scale, Stella and Patrick have been privileged to train teachers and education managers in South Africa and Namibia.

Their collaboration has positioned them as trusted partners to government bodies, education- focused NGOs, and schools seeking to improve reading outcomes at scale. As co-trainers and Senior Literacy Project Managers, they are available for partnerships with private schools, organizations, and donor-funded projects aiming to enhance literacy delivery and teacher capacity development.

Residing in Abuja, Nigeria, Stella and Patrick are also passionate about social impact and volunteer their expertise to charity organizations working in under-served communities.
