Luwam Araya is an Eritrean teacher based in Kampala. She has a diploma form Fine Arts Institute and a Certificate in Early Childhood Developmental Psychology. She began using Jolly Phonics 13 years ago in Asmara, Eritrea. Through the years she was able to teach young children to be independent and more confident readers and writers. She could see all children are able to use sounds easily to identify and read words.
In Kampala, Luwam has been consulting, training and guiding teachers in both private and international schools on Jolly Phonics. She wants to enable teachers and schools to use the effective and fun Jolly Phonics synthetic approach for young and struggling learners to achieve better results, as she has previously seen.
